Pioneering Veterans’ Project To Feature On The BBC

A unique Isle of Wight not-for-profit project that offers support to ex-servicemen and women is to feature on the BBC One Show tonight (Friday).

Island-based media production company People Media Productions have produced the film which will air during the primetime BBC show presented by Angelica Bell from 7pm.

The film charts the work of former servicemen John Dugdale and Dale Hillier in establishing firstly the Veterans Hub.

The venue provides a lounge where veterans can drop in for refreshments, company and signposting they may need and then the nearby Veteran Hotel and Bar which offers accommodation and support for veterans in need.

The hotel and bar, which also offers short-term holidays to veterans and their families in a safe, welcoming environment is the first of its kind in the UK.

Tony Steyger, of People Media Productions, said:

“The work of John, Dale and their volunteers is not only much-needed and of great value, it is also truly inspirational.

"We felt it was a story that needed to be told to a wider audience.

“There are so many moving veteran stories out there, and we hope this film is a fitting way to mark national Armed Forces Day on Saturday."

 John added:

“It was great to work with Tony and we hope that the film will help highlight the fact that there are veterans in our country who really need support.”
