'Fiver Fest' Returns To Encourage People Back To Newport High Street

Newport High Street

Fiver Fest is returning to the Isle of Wight next month (October) which aims to encourage people to spend £5 in their High Street.

The free campaign is about high streets putting on special £5 offers across two weeks in October.

From the 9-23 of next month it will be a chance for independent businesses to use their collective power to encourage people back to Newport town centre.

Jo Randall, NBA Membership Secretary and Newport Fiver Fest Coordinator said:

“Fiver Fest is now a big part of our promotions for Newport, and independent shops and businesses are what makes our historic market-town so special and unique.

"The community support for local businesses has been amazing during the lockdown, so these offers are to say thank you to customers, and to highlight the great value and economic impact of shopping locally”

Fiver Fest Offers have been imaginative and varied; from £5 massages to £5 best-selling book offers, to £5 lunch deals, £5 walking tours and even £5 vintage bus seats! Where the community really got behind the campaign, many businesses found it to be their busiest time outside of Christmas.

The campaign is devised and run by Totally Locally, a Grass Roots High Street Organisation that has been helping businesses and High Streets to help themselves since 2010.

Fiver Fest is based around the now famous Totally Locally £5 message:

“If every adult in Newport spent just £5 per week in their local independent shops and businesses, it would mean so much more money going directly into our local economy. Which can lead to more jobs, a better high street, a stronger economy and a nicer place to live. Makes you think doesn’t it?!”
