Bus drivers across the Isle of Wight will be proudly displaying poppies this Remembrance season, as Southern Vectis shows its support for the Royal British Legion.
Managing Director Ben Murray said:
“We know how proud people across the Island are of the nation’s military, and so is our team at Southern Vectis.
"As part of this community, we want to honour all those who have served and continue to serve.”
All drivers and team members will be offered a poppy to wear, and Southern Vectis will also be making a donation to the Royal British Legion in support of the Poppy Appeal.
As a mark of respect, buses will pull over at 11am on Sunday 9 November for Remembrance Sunday and again at 11am on Tuesday 11 November for Armistice Day, to observe the two-minute silence wherever it is safe to do so.
In addition, Southern Vectis is offering free travel all day on both days for UK Armed Forces veterans and current service members.
Those wishing to use the free service just need to show military ID or medals when boarding.
The Poppy Appeal runs annually from late October through to Armistice Day on 11 November, raising funds to support veterans and their families.
