Yellow House Walk Raises More Than £6,000 For Mountbatten

Students who are part of Yellow House Council attended Mountbatten Isle of Wight on Monday 9 October to hand over a cheque for £6220.67 raised through Yellow House Walk.

More than 200 pupils took part in Yellow House Walk this summer.

The event was part of Yellow House Community Day to raise money for Yellow House’s chosen charity, Mountbatten.

It is one of the longest running traditions of the school, each year run in support of Yellow House charity The Mountbatten Hospice.

The first Yellow House Walk took place over 30 years ago.

Staged in memory of a well-loved, courageous Yellow House pupil Ian White, who very sadly passed away from cancer at the age of 15.

A total of 206 pupils set off from Cowes and walked 14 miles to Sandown along the cycle path.

A further 23 pupils subsequently joined them, walking 6 miles from Merstone to Sandown.

Pupils and staff on the walk had a fantastic time and were excellent ambassadors for the school.

Mr Johnson, Head of Yellow House said,

“It was a pleasure to accompany students to Mountbatten to hand over the cheque for over £6,000.

"The whole school community came together to raise money for this special charity.

"I am really proud of all of the students who took part in Yellow House Walk and to the Yellow House Council who helped to organise and run the fundraising activities.”
