Who Is Your Ryde Hero? Nominations Open For 'Freedom Of Ryde'

Visit IOW (c).

Ryde residents are being asked to put forward nominees for the 'Freedom of Ryde'.

The honorary title has been created as part of Ryde’s celebrations to commemorate the Queen’s Jubilee.

Seven residents, one for every decade of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign, will be selected and presented with the title at a dedicated awards ceremony on the weekend of the Jubilee festivities.

Ryde Mayor Cllr Michael Lilley said:

“This a fantastic way to honour the incredible work that people of Ryde have done for their community over the last 70 years.

"We can’t think of any better way to celebrate the Jubilee than by awarding this highest of honours to seven Ryde heroes. They really are the magnificent seven!”

Ryde Town Council Marketing Officer Hannah East said:

“The Freedom of Ryde is a huge honour and we are thrilled to be presenting it to seven wonderful Ryde residents.

"It is even better that the nominations are going to be coming from the people who live within the community – this is a terrific opportunity to put forward people who you believe have made a real difference to the town of Ryde.

"I can’t wait to see the nominations flood in!”

If you would like to nominate someone for their valuable service, achievements, profession or contribution to Ryde town, than please email reception@rydetowncouncil.gov.uk or post to Ryde Town Council, 10 Lind Street, Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 2NQ.

Please include the name, date of birth and contact details of the person you are nominating, along with why the nominee should be considered.

Nominations must be entered by March 31, 2022 at 2pm.
