Sandown's Browns Golf Course Set To Reopen

Browns Golf Course in Sandown looks set to be reopening under new stewardship.

Kate Scandrett has posted on Facebook to say she has collected the keys, and now "the hard work begins".

The popular Sandown seafront attraction closed last September after the long-term tenants bade farewell.

Speaking to Isle of Wight Radio about their departure, the family said what was offered to them gave "no real security" in the long run.

The Isle of Wight Council had since advertised the short-term lease, but as of February no one had come forward.

Now the hard work begins! We got the keys today! 🍾🥂💜❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤🤍🤎💗

Having been created in 1931, Browns Golf Course is steeped in history. It also played a key role in World War Two, as previously reported.

Isle of Wight Radio has approached the Isle of Wight Council and Kate Scandrett for a comment.
