Coronation Celebrations on the Isle of Wight

Her Majesty The Queen celebrates her Platinum Jubilee this month.

The Queen’s formal coronation as Queen Elizabeth II took place almost seventy years ago on June 2, 1953, in Westminster Abbey, following the death of her father, King George VI.

The Isle of Wight lined the streets with flags and came out in their thousands for street parties, concerts, fayres and sports tournaments, to mark the historic event...
