It is good to see how well the Island has adapted and acclimatised to the restrictions imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Following hot on the news that the final leg of the 2022 Tour of Britain is to be held on the Island; it has now been announced that the Diamond Races is due to take place in October 2021 and looks set to be yet another global event that will attract people to the Island and promote us as a key venue. The race is developed by the Isle of Wight Council in partnership with leading motorcycle experts and is increasing the Islands global footprint on attracting people to visit us and bring their businesses and staff to the Island.
The Council is also celebrating being shortlisted in two categories at the MRW National Recycling Awards 2020.
The first nomination is for the ‘Campaign of the Year - Up to £20K’: This relates to the excellent communications campaign to improve recycling at holiday lets across the Island.
The second category is for ‘Public/Private sector category for Partnership Excellence’ Both categories are a recognition of the hard work of Island residents in recycling waste and the work done by the Council officers and Amey.
I hope that you continue to keep safe and healthy.
