Planning and Housing.
Following news of this Government’s Planning For The Future white paper, I continue to receive feedback from residents over proposals to increasing Island housing targets from 525 five years ago to 1045 new dwellings per year. Opposing these figures, it was noted in 2019/20 261 dwellings were completed, three being ‘affordable’.
Cowes Traffic Order Update.
New proposed Parking Orders are due to go out to consultation for 28 days this month. Should there be no objections this order can be implemented from February 2021. However, if there are further lockdowns/ objections implementation is unlikely to occur before July.
Seafront Parking Update.
Plans to impose car parking charges on Cowes/Gurnard are due to be determined by the IW Council’s Cabinet on 14th January.
Place Road Speed Limit.
Proposals to reduce the speed limit to 30mph for Place Road are being assessed by the IW Council and Island Roads as part of the Islandwide speed limit review. Please let me know your views.
Land between Place Road and Cockleton Lane.
Following speculation with the sale of farmland, I am advised pre-application discussions have taken place between a developer and Planning Officers to submit a future planning application.
