An 11-year-old Isle of Wight student is helping families focus on kindness, connection, and mental wellbeing this festive season.
Bobby Scudder, a pupil at Lanesend Primary School, has created a Wellbeing Advent Calendar featuring 24 simple, uplifting activities for families to enjoy together.
Each day offers a small moment of joy, reflection, or togetherness, designed to support children’s mental health during the winter months.
With the support of BAE Systems, GKN, and Glanvilles Solicitors, Bobby’s calendars have been printed and distributed to six Island primary schools: Northwood, Lanesend, Gurnard, St Francis, St Blasius, and Binstead.
Alongside the calendars, Wellness Journals are also available in school receptions for a suggested £2 donation.
Donations can also be made directly at the Isle of Wight Youth Trust reception.
All proceeds will go through the Big Give Christmas Challenge, meaning every donation will be doubled to benefit local young people.
“This campaign is about more than fundraising,” said Bobby.
“It’s about helping young people feel supported and connected during a time that can be tough for mental health. I hope the calendar brings a little light to families this winter.”
The initiative is part of the Youth Trust’s wider Winter Wellbeing Campaign.
Staff will also deliver interactive assemblies in participating schools, teaching practical wellbeing tips and activities to help children manage stress and build resilience.
Paul Savill from the Youth Trust said:
“This project shows how creativity and community spirit can make a real difference.
"We’re so proud of Bobby and grateful to our partners for helping bring his idea to life.”
