More than 9,500 people took part in Walk the Wight 2026 with Mountbatten Isle of Wight on Sunday 10th May, helping raise more than £522,000 so far.
Early fundraising figures show £522,426 has already been raised — an increase of 18 per cent compared with the same stage last year — with more donations still expected in the coming weeks.
The Schools Walk, supported by Rouse Limited, has also seen record fundraising, with more than £53,000 raised to date.
Participants included Islanders and visitors from as far away as Germany and the USA.
One of the day’s standout moments saw Sam Cheek, 31, propose to Aleksandra Kraus, 30, at Carisbrooke Castle — the place where the couple first met during Walk the Wight three years ago.

Mountbatten CEO Becky McGregor said she was "blown away by the inspirational stories" shared throughout the day, adding that the event remains the charity’s biggest fundraiser of the year.
Walk the Wight event lead Ashleigh Gibbs said the event continues to bring people together and create lasting memories, with this year's fundraising total already proving significant.
