Vecta House care home was a sea of yellow on Friday as residents and staff joined islanders across the Isle of Wight to celebrate Go Yellow Day in support of Mountbatten Hospice.

The home’s reception was decked out with sunflower decorations and a fundraising stall, while staff got into the spirit with bright costumes — including a bumblebee, a banana and even a pineapple.

Residents enjoyed a yellow-themed tea party with cakes baked by the home’s chef, and live entertainment from singer Sandy, who performed a lively set of ABBA classics.

The event raised £142 for Mountbatten Isle of Wight, with thanks given to everyone who donated and to Sandy and her husband for their support.

Lifestyle Leader Tanya Everson said:

“It was a fantastic day filled with community spirit, great fun and delicious cake — all for a truly worthy cause.”
