Residents from Vecta House Care Home enjoyed a day of wildlife and discovery this week, swapping their lounge for the rainforest on a special outing to Amazon World Zoo Park.
As part of the home’s enrichment programme, the group travelled by minibus to the popular Isle of Wight attraction, spending the afternoon exploring the park’s lush habitats.
Residents got up close to exotic birds, curious reptiles, and the zoo’s star residents — the playful red pandas.
For many, the visit was a chance to reconnect with nature and reminisce about past travels, with the vibrant birds and mischievous red pandas sparking plenty of laughter and conversation.
Tanya Everson, Lifestyle Leader at Vecta House, said:
“We believe that staying active and engaged with our local community is vital for our residents’ wellbeing.
"Seeing the joy on their faces as they watched the animals was truly heart-warming.
"It wasn’t just a trip out; it was a chance to create new memories together.”
Vecta House continues to offer a wide range of activities, ensuring life at the care home remains social, stimulating, and full of adventure.
