Tapnell Farm Park has shared the sad news that one of its much-loved animals, Bear the wallaby, has passed away.

Bear had recently become unwell, and following veterinary advice, the difficult decision was made to put him to sleep.

He arrived at Tapnell back in 2016 from Seaview Wildlife Encounter, when the attraction closed and a number of animals were rehomed.

Since then, Bear became a firm favourite among visitors and staff alike.

One of the park’s Head Keepers, Lucy, described him as a much-loved character, adored by both the team and visitors.

She said Bear had been hand-reared and was well known for his friendly nature, love of people, and enthusiasm at feeding time.

Bear was especially popular with those who visited the wallaby enclosure, often being the first to greet guests.

Tapnell Farm Park says he brought joy to everyone who met him and will be deeply missed by keepers and visitors.

The team has also thanked those who supported and loved Bear over the years, adding that their thoughts are with everyone affected by his loss.
