A host of seaside venues have teamed up to make this year’s Round the Island Race a truly Islandwide experience.
The Island Sailing Club, which organises the race, has partnered with four locations to become official spectator venues on Saturday 11th July.
The Albion Hotel in Freshwater, The Terrace in Ventnor, Bembridge Coast Hotel and The Dell in Ryde will all run special offers on race day, giving guests the chance to watch it in style from some of the best vantage points.
A bigger Race Village on Cowes Parade will also be open during the race weekend.
“We’ve always believed the Round the Island Race is very much an occasion for the entire Island, and we want as many people as possible to be part of it,” said Dave Atkinson, Race Director.
“We’re delighted these four venues will join us to offer spectators an opportunity to enjoy the race at some of the best locations.
“We’ll be announcing more details about our plans and offers for race day over the coming weeks.”
More than 500 boats have already signed up and it’s anticipated over 1,000 will be taking their place on the start line in July.
The fleet start at the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes and circumnavigate the Isle of Wight in an anti-clockwise direction, before arriving back in Cowes for the finish.
The 50-nautical mile race is one of the largest of its kind in the world, pitting world-renowned sailors against families and first-time racers.
For those visiting the Island to watch the race, a special discount will also be available with Red Funnel.
