If you’ve ever wished you could just smash something to let off steam – there’s a place on the Isle of Wight where you can do exactly that.
Rage Release, based at Northwood Business Park on Newport Road, Cowes, offers Islanders and visitors a safe, fun way to release emotions and shake off stress.
But for owner Jade Light, it’s much more than just breaking plates or smashing bottles.
Jade, who bought the business from her brother and reshaped it into what it is today, says her inspiration comes from both her professional and personal journey.
“Having spent 17 years working in learning disabilities and mental health support, I’ve seen first-hand how important it is to give people safe and healthy outlets for their emotions,” she explained.
“On a personal level, I’ve faced my own battles with mental health, and the grief of losing my dad to Covid while I was studying for my degree.
"It was an incredibly difficult time, but those experiences made me determined to create something that could help others.”
After completing her MSc in Psychology in 2024 — while caring for her baby daughter as a single mum — Jade returned to the business with a vision: to build a space where community and wellbeing are at the heart of every session.

Since then, Rage Release has welcomed everyone from mums and dads to stag parties, carers, and people working through stress, grief or mental health challenges.
“Many have told us they walk away feeling lighter,” Jade said. “That’s exactly what I hoped Rage Release could offer – it’s about release, relief, and recovery.”
To make sessions as accessible as possible, Rage Release offers 50% off solo sessions for people facing mental health or addiction challenges, while carers can always attend free of charge.
The business also supports Mountbatten Hospice through donations, while inclusivity is another key focus.
In October, Jade is launching the Calm & Chaos Club – designed for all ages and abilities.

These sessions will feature activities like knocking down cardboard towers with foam bats, smashing colourful piñatas, and balloon popping, giving a sensory-room feel in a fun, supportive setting.
Longer term, Jade hopes to add dedicated sensory rooms too.
Running the business as a single parent hasn’t always been easy but, with the help of her friend Charlotte, Jade says the rewards are worth it.
“It’s not always easy balancing business, babies, and life’s challenges – but the feedback and the smiles remind me why Rage Release matters so much.”
