Pupils from the Priory School celebrated a series of successes at this year’s Isle of Wight Music, Dance and Drama Festival, taking part in competitions including Verse Recital, Prose Speaking, Monologue, Duo Acting, and Original Writing.

Emma R. and Edward S. impressed in the Original Writing category, taking first and second place in the 12 Years and Over section.

The youngest member of the team, seven-year-old Thomas W., kicked off the awards with a win in the Speech & Drama event for his performance of Granny’s Boot.

The students were coached by LAMDA teacher Ms Jeni Law, who praised their dedication:

“I’m so proud of all the children who took part. Many were competing for the first time, and they did brilliantly.
"Special thanks to the mums who gave up their Mother’s Day to support us.”

Overall, Priory pupils entered 19 classes and achieved ten first places, seven seconds, and three third-place finishes, adding to the two trophies earned by the school choirs in the Music section.

Principal David EJJ Lloyd congratulated the pupils and staff:

“To return with so many trophies, medals, and commendations is wonderful.
"It’s a testament to the hard work and perseverance of all our pupils, winners or not.
"Huge thanks to Ms Law, our staff, parents, and supporters for their dedication.”
