The quirky Loo-vre exhibition, featuring artistically decorated toilets, is now on display at Department in Ryde.

After a month at Quay Arts in Newport, the five toilets created by Island artists have been “in-stall-ed” in the heart of Ryde’s new multi-art form cultural space, housed in the former Elizabeth Pack department store.

The exhibition, part of One Wight Health’s Your Loo Could Save You campaign, aims to raise awareness of bowel cancer and the importance of screening.

The toilets were originally displayed at Island beauty spots, including Ventnor Park and Brading Down, before moving to Quay Arts for a three-week gallery showing.

Visitors to Department can now follow a “Toilet Trail” featuring the five works by Maddy Dobson, Nathan Holt, Gemma Mallinson, Holly Maslen, and Josh Raffell, with boards explaining each artist’s concept.

Fiona Seymour, One Wight Health project coordinator, said:

“Department and Quay Arts have given us the chance to show off these creative masterpieces in gallery settings after a busy summer at local events.”
