Visitors to Ryde can book sea and sand-friendly wheelchairs, walkers, and other essential accessibility equipment completely free of charge via the Ryde Marina website from today (Tuesday July 1).

The initiative — running for the second consecutive summer — marks a major step forward in making Ryde’s beautiful seafront welcoming and accessible for all.

Equipment can now be booked easily online at:

The scheme is part of Ryde’s wider commitment to inclusive tourism and improving

access for residents and visitors with reduced mobility, disabilities, or additional needs.

What’s Available?

  • Sea & Sand Wheelchairs

Designed to travel over soft sand and into the water, allowing users to experience the

beach and sea more freely.

  • Beach Walker

Sturdy, easy-to-manoeuvre walkers designed for use on sand.

  • 320 Metres of Accessible Boardwalk

A specially laid beach boardwalk stretches 320 metres across Harbour Beach, providing

step-free access right onto the sand.

  • Changing Place Unit

Positioned at the entrance to the boardwalk, this fully equipped Changing Place includes

a height-adjustable bench, ceiling hoist, accessible toilet, and ample space for users and

carers.

  • Blue Badge Parking & Step-Free Routes

Conveniently located parking bays and accessible pathways ensure easy access to all

beach facilities.

Making the Beach Truly Open to All

"Ryde’s seafront should be a place that everyone can enjoy equally — whether you’re going for a paddle, meeting friends for a picnic, or just enjoying the view," said a spokesperson for the Ryde Beach Accessibility Team.
"We’ve listened to what people need and worked hard to remove barriers so more people can experience everything our beach has to offer."

Book Today

Equipment is free to use and available seven days a week (sea wheelchairs are tide- dependant) from 1 July until 30 August.

Visitors are encouraged to book in advance to avoid disappointment.
