Here’s your Isle of Wight events guide for the rest of August 2025—highlighting exciting activities on the Island to look out for over the next couple of weeks!

Coming Up This Month

Friday 15 August

  • Community Day Fayre – Ventnor Park A new addition for 2025! Head to Ventnor Park from 12pm to 6pm for a fun, family-oriented fair featuring lots of stalls, entertainment, and community spirit.

Saturday 16 – Sunday 17 August

  • Dash and Splash – Sandown Bay (Saturday, 10:00am) This unique 5 km “fun run” stretches from Shanklin Rowing Club, under Sandown Pier, to Yaverland. Participants negotiate groynes along the way—most are easy to sprint through, but 14 will involve splashing (ankle-deep for most, waist-deep for two). The event supports Aspire Ryde, based in a repurposed church.

  • Isle of Wight Garlic Festival – Newchurch A renowned culinary celebration featuring garlic-inspired food (think garlic ice cream and Bloody Marys!), live music, falconry, dog shows, arts & crafts, and the crowning of the “Garlic Queen.” A delicious—and aromatic—day out for families!

  • Epicurean Sailor Sunset Cruise (Saturday evening) Enjoy a relaxing two-hour adults-only cruise with Méthode Traditionnel Blanc de Blancs champagne from The Terrace Wine Room in Ventnor, accompanied by canapés and tunes spun by DJ Gilo.

Friday 22 – Monday 25 August

  • Isle of Wight Steam Fair – Havenstreet Steam Railway Celebrate a weekend full of steam-powered fun—vintage engines, fairground rides, real ale bars, live entertainment, and nostalgic charm.

  • Isle of Wight Scooter Rally – Sandown Airport

Join the world’s biggest gathering of scooters this Bank Holiday. Expect licensed bars, a vast traders’ village, live DJs and bands, a custom scooter show, and a ride-out on Sunday. Camping and glamping on site—book early!

Saturday August 30

  • Ryde Carnival (Illuminated Procession) Returning with lights, floats, and community atmosphere, this year’s illuminated parade in Ryde is a summer highlight.

Why Not Try One of These?

  • Adrenaline & Adventure – Dash and Splash gives you a quirky, active way to experience the beach.

  • Deliciously Unusual – At the Garlic Festival, get daring with garlic ice cream and soak up festival fun.

  • Chill Out in Style – The sunset cruise is perfect for a more relaxed, adult-focused evening.

  • Step Back in Time – The Steam Fair is ideal for families and nostalgia seekers alike.

  • Culture on Wheels – Scooter Rally brings a lively and unique twist to island festivities.

  • Community Magic – Ryde Carnival wraps up summer in glowing style.
