The Isle of Wight Festival provided a springboard into summer for local events, here's a few to look out for in the coming weeks!



Royal Isle of Wight County Show

Event information


The 124th Royal Isle of Wight County Show will take place this weekend at the Island’s County Show, organised by the Island for the Island, celebrates all aspects of Island life.


Alongside the numerous livestock and equine classes, where farmers and equestrians showcase their sheep, goats, cattle, pigs, and horses, competing for a coveted first prize, there is something for everyone, whether young or old.

The Secret Army within the Isle of Wight Home Guard

Carisbrooke Castle Museum

Event information


A new talk at Carisbrooke Castle Museum next Wednesday (16 July) at 7pm by Sam Biles.


In the darkest days of WW2, when France had fallen and Britain stood alone against the threat of Nazi invasion, Winston Churchill set up a highly secret network of highly trained guerrilla militia across the mainland coast and on the Isle of Wight.


All proceeds support the museum's work.

Pier-to Pier Walk

The Steamer Inn - Shanklin

Event information


Part of Shanklin Carnival week will see the annual Pier-to-Pier walk take place.


The event starts from The Steamer Inn walking to Sandown Pier and back to the Steamer, under the moonlight.


Upon return you will be awarded your medal and a BBQ will be available at the Steamer (kindly donated by WA Foods).


All money raised will go to Aspire - a community charity based in Ryde but working across the Island, supporting those less vulnerable.

Dash and Splash

Shanklin Rowing Shanklin Esplanade

Event information

Dash and Splash is a 5k Run/walk along the beach from Shanklin Esplanade to Yaverland Beach in Sandown. running along the sand occasionally splashing around the groynes.


This event is to raise money for Aspire Ryde.


Race starts at 10am - this is the lowest weekend tide of the summer.


Every competitor will get a medal cost to register is £15 per Adult (online) and £20 on the day , with children £5.

Following three successful events bringing together dozens of Island businesses and close

to 1,000 visitors, the Going Electric show returns to Newport Quay and Riverside centre.
