The Isle of Wight College is celebrating after its on-site training restaurant achieved a 5-star food hygiene rating, the highest possible mark, following a recent inspection.

The restaurant, run by students under the guidance of experienced staff, provides hands-on experience in a real working environment.

Restaurant Manager Mark Avis said:

“We’re incredibly proud to receive this 5-star rating.
"It’s a fantastic recognition of the hard work and dedication shown by our students and staff every day.
"Maintaining high standards is central to everything we do, and this result reflects our commitment to providing a safe, professional, and welcoming experience for all our guests.”

The College welcomes the public to enjoy a meal and see the students’ skills in action.

The restaurant operates every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday for lunch, offering a four-course table d’hôte menu for £12.50 per person, all prepared and served by students under the guidance of Head Chef Mike and Restaurant Manager Mark.

From January 2026, themed lunches will be introduced, featuring cuisines such as Greek, Irish, and Middle Eastern.

Bookings can be made via restaurant@iwcollege.ac.uk or by calling 535206.
