History, nature, and fresh air all await at this year’s Isle of Wight Autumn Walking Festival (4–12 October), which has just added 15 new walks to its programme.
Sponsored by Outdooractive and organised by Visit Isle of Wight, the award-winning festival offers more than 70 guided and self-guided walks across the Island, with many free to join (booking essential).
Highlights include:
National Trust Wellbeing Walk, Newtown (4 Oct): a mindful 1.5-mile stroll with meditation and sensory moments in nature.
Ventnor History Trail (7 Oct): a 4-mile coastal route with sweeping views and stories dating back to the Spanish Armada of 1588.
Tree ID Walk (5 Oct): learn how to spot native trees on a free 1.5-mile guided walk.
Sandown Litter-Pick Walk (11 Oct): a 3-mile route combining exercise with environmental action.
Brading Roman Villa Self-Guided Trail: explore a 2-mile circular walk around this historic site, available daily.
Amy Summers, Head of Marketing and Sustainability at Visit Isle of Wight, said:
“We’ve already had over 850 walkers sign up, with nearly three quarters joining us from the mainland and overseas.
"The festival is powered by our amazing volunteers, whose passion for the Island helps showcase why the Isle of Wight is one of the UK’s top walking destinations.”
Discounted ferry travel, accommodation, and food & drink deals are available through the Isle of Wight Walking Festival website, where all walks can be booked.
