An award-winning author who once placed “dadverts” in newspapers to find a father figure will visit Cowes next month to share her extraordinary story.

Georgie Codd will appear at Medina Bookshop on Wednesday 26 November, discussing her new book Never Had a Dad: Adventures in Fatherlessness — a touching, funny and thought-provoking memoir described by The Times as a “dating quest with a difference”.

The book follows Georgie’s unusual mission to find a father figure through personal ads, a journey that attracted more than 50 “applicants” and led to surprising lessons about family, parenting and what dads really mean to us.

Her first book, We Swim to the Shark, explored fear and scuba diving, earning her international recognition.

Never Had a Dad has already been featured by the BBC, This American Life and i News, and is now under option for a TV series.

Paul Armfield, manager of Medina Bookshop, said:

“This is such a quirky but touching story.
"As a dad myself, I’m fascinated to hear more about her experiences – it promises to be a fascinating evening.”
