Water-Survival Box
WATER-SURVIVAL BOX is a relatively new Rotary product and was developed after the 2004 tsunami. It contains a new water purification kit sufficient for a family of five for twelve months and a variety of essential survival items for eating and drinking; hygiene; various simple tools; first aid kit and a tarpaulin and cords to provide a basic shelter. Our aim is to build up a stock of filled Water-Survival Boxes so that when future disasters occur we can send aid instantly to survivors. Water-Survival Boxes can mean the difference between life and death for survivors of disasters such as earthquake; hurricane; tsunami; refugee displacement; etc. We realised that survivors of disaster needed early protection from water-borne disease and this meant streamlining the operation. The crucial difference is that we send customised Water-Survival Boxes by air so that they arrive at the scene of the disaster within days of the event when they will be of maximum benefit to survivors.

By working with partners (eg a Rotary Club in the country concerned, the ShelterBox Trust, Humanity First UK, Merlin, Oxfam, the local Red Cross Society, and/or agency authorised to receive humanitarian aid into the affected country) we have been able to get our boxes delivered within days of leaving our warehouse in Somerset. Another critical factor in expediting the transit of our aid relates to the consistent range of box contents which greatly simplifies their passage through customs on arrival.
