Coastal Public Footpath BB10 will be closed from Public Footpath BB13 (at Forelands Field) to Public Footpath BB14 (at High Ridge) between 9am on Wednesday 13 January and Saturday 29 January 2011, due to erosion/ cliff subsidence. Public Footpath C34 Whale Chine will remain closed until approximately Monday 21 November 2011 between a point 170 metres south of A3055 Military Road to the beach due to a landslip. Baring Road (between Crossfield Avenue and Tuttons Hill). Temporary traffic lights were in operation from 9am on Monday 14 June until 11am on Tuesday 27 July and will be required at times from 9am on Monday 9 August until approx 4pm on Friday 3 September 2010 for the construction of a new footway by the Isle of Wight Council. York Street / Bridge Road / Pelham Road - Gas Main replacement works by Southern Gas Networks. Work in York Street and Bridge Road have been completed (in July 2010). To complete the gas main works Pelham Road will be closed from 11am on Tuesday 13 July until approx 5pm on Friday 8 October 2010 between Bridge Road and the end of the surfaced highway (330 metres to the south of Bridge Road). BESTIVAL MUSIC EVENT 2010 - PUBLIC TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS SHUTTLE buses will operate as necessary from Thursday morning on 10 September until the afternoon on Monday 13 September 2010 from Cowes, East Cowes and Ryde/Fishbourne ferry terminals to/from the event temporary bus station situated approx 350m Brading side of the junction with Downend Road, before during and after the event. At certain times during the event additional buses will operate to Newport bus terminal to connect with all other bus routes. All service buses normally operating along Downend Road will also drop off and pick up in Robin Hill during the above period. TAXIS: The official taxi drop off and pick up point will also be within Robin Hill. This will be clearly signed on the approaches to Robin Hill Roundabout, Downend Road and Mersley Downs Road. Motorists should be aware that there will be additional traffic delays in the East Cowes, Fishbourne Lane and Yarmouth town centre areas during and after the Bestival between the morning of Thursday 10 and the evening of Monday 13 September 2010, due to high level of ferry traffic. People travelling on the Southampton, Portsmouth and Lymington ferries especially after the Bestival should only arrive at the Isle of Wight ferry terminals between 30 and 60 minutes before their booked time in an effort to minimise the traffic congestion and delays that will occur after the event. People who do not have ferry bookings should not try to cross from late on the night of Sunday 12 September until late in the evening on Monday 13 September 2010 as all ferries are fully booked.

BESTIVAL MUSIC EVENT 2010 - FOOTPATH AND BRIDLEWAY CLOSURES Public Footpaths and Bridleways in the Downend and Mersley Downs Area will be closed to pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians in the interests of public safety during the Bestival music event from 7am on Monday 6 until approx 4pm on Friday 17 September 2010. Public Bridleways N20/N90, Arreton will be closed from Combley Farm (junction with Bridleway N18) to Mersley Down Road. BESTIVAL MUSIC EVENT 2010- TRAFFIC AND PARKING RESTRICTIONS Downend Road/Mersley Downs Road/Briddlesford Road/Long Lane/A3056 Sandown Road. There will be traffic delays on the above roads from Thursday 9 until late-afternoon on Tuesday 14 September 2010 when the Bestival Music Event takes place at Robin Hill Country Park. Through traffic is strongly advised to use an alternative route if possible during this period as there will be long traffic delays at times. ROAD CLOSURES AFTER THE EVENT: To assist with traffic flow from appox 9am until 6pm on Monday 13 September 2010 Mersley Down Road will be closed from Downend Road to Rowlands Lane and Downend Road will be closed in a northbound direction from Arreton Cross to Mersley Down Road. Diversions will be signposted. A temporary 30mph speed limit and 24 hour no-waiting highway clearway order will be in operation in; Downend Road, Briddlesford Road (between Gravel Pit Lane and Robin Hill Roundabout), in Mersley Downs Road (from Downend Road to near the viewpoint lay-by), in Long Lane (from Newport to Robin Hill Roundabout), in A3056 Arreton Street/Sandown Road from Arreton Village to near Merstone Lane and in part of Merstone Lane and Burnt House Lane. These restrictions are necessary in the interests of road safety. Motorists should be aware that NO STOPPING OR PARKING will be permitted on the roads, lay-bys and verges where the clearway restriction is in operation during the above dates. Any car that is found to be parked within the clearway restriction will be towed away. PARKING for all people arriving at the event by car will be situated off Mersley Downs Road just over a mile Brading side of the junction with Downend Road (at the entrance to Duxmore Farm) and will be clearly signposted. Temporary traffic lights will be in operation when required at the entrance to the Bestival event car park and the entrance to the event bus station from the morning on Thursday 9 September until late afternoon on Monday 13 September 2010.

Castle Street will be closed from Well Road to Old Road between 9am on Monday 9 August and approx 4pm on Tuesday 7 September 2010 for the replacement of 178 metres of water main by Clancy Docwra for Southern Water and other works in connection with the construction of a new Waitrose store by Wates. DIVERSION ROUTE: A3021 Well Road and York Avenue, Newbarn Road and Old Road. Access to East Cowes Esplanade and Waverley Caravan Park will be maintained via the diversion route.

Public Footpath F74 will be closed from Blackbridge Road to Afton Road and Public Footpath F75 will be closed from Public Footpath F74 (105 metres northwest of Blackbridge Road)to the junction with Public Footpath F75 (near the junction with Afton Road). The Footpaths are the east and west sides of Afton Marsh and will be closed to replace a footbridge between 8am on Saturday 14 August and 5pm on Saturday 4 September 2010. A3020 High Street (outside Stone Cross Cottage). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Wednesday 28 April until 4pm on Thursday 28 October 2010 for building renovation works following fire by SR Hall. Traffic delays will occur. Whitepit Lane. A one way restriction will continue in operation in the direction from Elm Grove to St Johns Road (an Eastbound direction) following the completion of a new footway and boundary walls and drainage works by Williams Associates for the Isle of Wight Council. The works were completed on Friday 20 August 2010. The one way restriction will remain in operation for the foreseeable future, to enable the Isle of Wight Council to monitor the effectiveness and suitability in the Whitepit Lane area. Public Footpath NT23 (Puckwell Lane) will be closed to pedestrians from Public Footpath NT22 to A3055 High Street between 8am on Wednesday 1 and approx 5pm on Thursday 14 October 2010 for the construction of a balancing pond in connection with the junction with a building development at Puckwell Farm. North Walk will be closed between Esplanade to Canoe Lake Road from 4.30pm until approx 11.45pm and The Esplanade will be closed from Dover Street to The Strand from 5.30pm until approx 11.45pm to enable Ryde Illuminated Carnival procession to form up/disband on Saturday 4 September 2010. The procession is due to leave North Walk and The Esplanade at 8.30pm and travel via: Dover Street, Park Road, Star Street, High Street, St Thomas Square, Union Street, Esplanade (South carriageway to Dover Street Roundabout) where the carnival is due to arrive at approx 9.45pm. In the interests of road pedestrian safety Union Street will remain closed until approx 11.30pm. All of the other roads on the route should be re-opened by approx 11.45pm. Ryde Pier has been closed to all vehicles including taxis and motorcycles, following a routine maintenance inspection on Tuesday 3 August 2010. Wightlink has been advised that remedial works need to be done and the company is waiting for full details of what is required. Pedestrians will be permitted to use the pier as normal; however cyclists using the pier will have to dismount their bicycles. Passengers with limited mobility who are unable to use the train service are advised to use the Portsmouth/Fishbourne Car Ferry Service. People travelling on the Fastcat can be dropped off & picked up in the left-hand lane of the road by the entrance to the pier. Trains are unaffected and Island Line will operate with four carriages instead of two. Wightlink car park season ticket holders will be permitted to park at Fishbourne and use the car ferry service.

Union Road will be closed from Cross Street to Castle Street between 8am on Monday 16 August until approx 8am on Tuesday 16 November 2010 to enable scaffolding to be erected for building works between 13 & 14 Union Road. The scaffolding has physically closed the road to vehicles at this point (from 90 metres to 118 metres southwest of Castle Street). Full pedestrian access past the site will be available. Southgrove Road will be closed from B3327 Mitchell Avenue to Grove Road from 3pm on Thursday 1 December until approx Friday 30 September 2010. The road is physically closed to vehicles from approx 175metres (Macrocarpa House) to 220metres (Montrees) to the southeast of Grove Road/Mitchell Avenue. Full pedestrian access will be available. Public Footpath V90 will be closed until approx Sunday 12 December 2010 between Public Footpath V91 to a point 300 metres to the east (the Ventnor direction). Park Road will be closed from A3054 Lushington Hill to Station Road from 9am on Tuesday 31 August until approx 5pm on Tuesday 7 September 2010 for carriageway repair works by Bardon Contracting for The Isle of Wight Council. The works are located between the cycle track crossing and approximately 165 metres from the junction with Station Road / Whiterails Road. Access to premises will be maintained as far as possible. DIVERSION ROUTE: A3054 Lushington Hill and High Street, Station Road.

Temporary one-way restriction will be introduced between 8.30am and 5.15pm when Wolverton Country Garden Fair takes place on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 September 2010. In Pound Lane/Wolverton Lane traffic will only be permitted to travel in the direction from Corve Hill to Doctors Lane and in Park Lane traffic will only be permitted to travel in the direction from Atherfield Road to Corve Hill. TRAFFIC DIVERSIONS WILL BE SIGNPOSTED. Additional traffic diversions for traffic exiting the event will be in operation when required.
