Public Footpath BS79 will remain closed until approximately Friday 21 November 2008 between Public Footpath BS98 and a point 78 metres north east of Public Footpath BS98 due to a landslip. BESTIVAL 2008 - PUBLIC TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS SHUTTLE buses will operate as necessary from Thursday morning on 4 September until the afternoon on Monday 8 September 2008 from within Robin Hill to/from East Cowes and Ryde/Fishbourne ferry terminals, before during and after the event. At certain times during the event additional buses will operate to Newport bus terminal to connect with all other bus routes. All service buses normally operating along Downend Road will also drop off and pick up in Robin Hill during the above period. TAXIS: The official taxi drop off and pick up point will also be within Robin Hill. This will be clearly signed on the approaches to Robin Hill Roundabout, Downend Road and Mersley Downs Road. Motorists should be aware that there will be additional traffic delays in the East Cowes, Fishbourne Lane and Yarmouth town centre areas during and after the Bestival between the morning of Thursday 4 and the evening of Monday 8 September 2008, due to high level of ferry traffic. People travelling on the Southampton, Portsmouth and Lymington ferries especially after the Bestival should only arrive at the Isle of Wight ferry terminals between 30 and 60 minutes before their booked time in an effort to minimise the traffic congestion and delays that will occur after the event. People who do not have ferry bookings should not try to cross from late on the night of Sunday 7 September until late in the evening on Monday 8 September 2008 as all ferries are fully booked.

BESTIVAL 2008-Downend Road/Downs Road/Briddlesford Road/Long Lane/A3056 Sandown Road. There will be traffic delays on the above roads from Thursday 4 until late-afternoon on Tuesday 9 September 2008 when the Bestival Music Event takes place at Robin Hill Country Park. Through traffic is strongly advised to use an alternative route if possible during this period as there will be long traffic delays at times. A temporary 30mph speed limit and 24 hour no-waiting highway clearway order will be in operation in Downend Road, Briddlesford Road (between Gravel Pit Lane and Robin Hill Roundabout), on part of Mersley Downs Road, in Long Lane (from the existing 30mph speed limit at the Newport end to Robin Hill Roundabout) and in A3056 Arreton Street/Sandown Road from Arreton Village to near Merstone Lane. A 30mph speed limit & clearway order will also be in operation at the A3056 northern end of Merstone Lane and in part of Burnt House Lane. These restrictions are necessary in the interests of road safety. Motorists should be aware that NO STOPPING OR PARKING will be permitted on the roads, lay-bys and verges where the clearway restriction is in operation during the above dates. Any car that is found to be parked within the clearway restriction will be towed away. PARKING for all people arriving at the event by car will be in a field adjacent to Mersley Downs Road (approx 300 metres Brading side of Downend Road junction and will be clearly signposted. Temporary traffic lights will be in operation at the entrance to the Bestival event car park and Mersley Downs Road from the morning on Thursday 4 September until late afternoon on Monday 8 September 2008. Bedbury Lane (outside Shima). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am until 4.30pm on Friday 12 September 2008 for carriageway repairs by JA Dempsey on behalf of the Isle of Wight Council. Traffic delays will occur.

Main Road (between Upper junction with Church Road and adjacent to Northbrooke House). Elm Grove will be closed from Linden Road to St Johns Road between 9am on Thursday 4 and approx 4pm on Friday 5 September 2008 for carriageway repair works by JA Dempsey for the Isle of Wight Council. The one-way restriction in Elm Grove (between Whitepit Lane and St Johns Road) will be temporarily suspended to allow access during the road closure.
