YOUR SAY ON NHS PARKING CHARGES

Hospital patients and staff have until 23 February to comment on consultation into parking charges imposed by the Isle of Wight’s NHS Primary Care Trust.

The Department of Health is reviewing parking charges, nationally.  It is considering abolishing charges at hospitals, or capping them depending on your treatment.    On the Island, parking charges currently raise £416,000 per year and around half is used to fund security and car park maintenance whilst the other half helps to pay for health services on the Island.   The consultation document is available at www.dh.gov.uk under ‘Live Consultations’.  You can comment on the government’s review and can also forward your thoughts to the Communications and Engagement Team at St. Mary’s Hospital or e-mailed to comms@iow.nhs.uk.
