WITNESS APPEAL AFTER CYCLIST INJURED IN ROAD COLLISION

Police are appealing for witnesses after a road traffic collision near Newport, Isle of Wight.

Officers were called at 10.35am on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 to a report of a collision involving a cyclist and a car on Fairlee Road.

The cyclist, a 52-year-old woman from Ryde, Isle of Wight, was travelling north on Fairlee Road when the collision happened near the junction with North Fairlee Farm.

She was taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

The car involved was a Honda Jazz, which was being driven by a 48-year-old woman from Newport, Isle of Wight.

The Isle of Wight Roads Policing Unit is appealing to anyone who was in the area of Fairlee Road at approximately 10.30am on Wednesday, July 15 to contact officers.
