Reported crime has fallen in the West Wight, according to the Hampshire Constabulary.
The force says reported crimes fell by nearly 20% (from 366 to 294) between 1 April 2008 and the start of February 2009, compared to the same period a year earlier. According to the figures, incidents of rowdy behaviour are down by more than 56% (from 341 to 149). Public disorder and assaults are down by 31% (from 113 to 81) and criminal damage is down by 34% (from 129 to 85). The number of house burglaries have reduced by 36% (from 11 to 7).
