There is disbelief in Shanklin, after a poppy memorial in the remembrance garden at the Royal British Legion on Collingwood Road was damaged. Vandals struck earlier this week.
The East Wight Safer Neighbourhoods Inspector Bill Pinnell said: “Police believe this was a disgraceful act that showed an appalling lack of respect for men and women who have served this country in war.” Police are appealing for information.
