Hampshire Constabulary’s Isle of Wight District Chief Inspector Mark Bell said: “Police have been informed that this morning’s county court hearing was adjourned until Tuesday, August 4. This is a civil law matter between the protestors and Vestas management.
“There were no reported problems during a demonstration outside the courts in Quay Street, Newport this morning (Wednesday , July 29). Protest organisers are meeting with local officers regularly to ensure ongoing demonstrations remain safe, peaceful and lawful.
“Isle of Wight-based officers, who acknowledge and understand the importance of this issue to the community, are maintaining an impartial role by communicating with protestors and Vestas management.
“Police remain on duty at the Vestas site in Monks Brook, Newport , Isle of Wight to help maintain public order and safety. There is no evidence to suggest any plans to disrupt peaceful demonstrations with criminal behaviour.”
