THE NOBLE SWORD

The Noble Sword, the first novel of local writer Mark McKerracher, is now available in paperback (ISBN 1849238855).

The Noble Sword is a fantasy adventure novel for young readers (aged 9-12), set in a mythical land where people and dragons live side-by-side.

The following blurb is taken from the website:
“Snatched on a cold winter’s night by a black dragon, Tom and Wat suddenly find themselves in the perilous world of the Dragon-Masters – a world of fire and thunder, mighty beasts and ancient legends, mystic lore
and strange alchemy. Their family has vanished, their lives are in danger, and the bloodthirsty League of Slayers is threatening a terrible war across the whole land. Even the Dragon-Masters seem helpless. Only one hope
remains… in the secrets of The Noble Sword.”

Mark McKerracher - aged 22, of Ryde - has lived on the Isle of Wight for most of his life.

The Noble Sword was written over seven years between 2001 and 2008; earlier drafts of the story served as GCSE and A-level English coursework pieces.  The novel has now been produced in paperback by New Generation Publishing, as part of a publishing scheme run by the creative writing website ‘YouWriteOn.com’.  It is distributed on a print-on-demand basis by the Lightning Press, and can be ordered from leading bookshops.

A website to accompany the story - www.thenoblesword.co.uk - is now online, constructed by Mark’s father, Ian McKerracher.
