St John Ambulance County Presentation evening,
Awards to all.
This year’s annual St John Ambulance County Presentation evening, being held at the Riverside Centre, Newport, on Wednesday, 26th April 2006 from 7p.m., will have an extra element of pleasure for the organisation.
Apart from Certificates to 27 members, recognising and valuing their 21500 hours of service to the island community during 2005, there will be medals awarded to 14 members in recognition of their collective 320 years of voluntary service to St John Ambulance. Presentations are to be made to four St John Cadets who have earned the Grand Prior Award, the highest accolade available to them. Several Cadets will also be enrolled and a Warrant of Appointment will be awarded to the new Superintendent of Newport Division.
The extra element will be the attendance of Mr MARTIN INCE, Senior Programme Manager for ISLE OF WIGHT INDUSTRIAL GROUP TRAINING SERVICES. He is presenting a £1200:00 (twelve hundred pounds) cheque to enable the island’s St John Ambulance to purchase much needed I.T. equipment.
As the local St John CEO, COLIN PALMERTON, explains
“As part of the UK’s leading First Aid Training provider, we have increasing demand for our expanding range of Courses. Many of which are held at locations on the island with no computer links. This need was recognised by ‘IWIGTS’ and their generous gift will allow us to meet these challenges”.
Earlier this year, St John Ambulance made a successful bid for £1300:0 of IT equipment from CONNEXIONS with the equipment already being used for the benefit of St John Cadet Divisions throughout the Island.
