SIR ANDREW MOTION ‘WALKING IN TENNYSON’S FOOTSTEPS’


Sir Andrew Motion, who retired six weeks ago as Poet Laureate, today becomes the first British poet to receive a knighthood for more than a quarter of a century.

Sir Andrew Motion’s first poem since he lay down the Poet Laureate’s quill and sherry glass. He has been inspired to write in advance of his forth coming visiting to Farringford, Tennyson’s Home on the Isle of Wight.

The poem is about Farrringford, Tennyson and the Isle of Wight and was written for the Tennyson Gala Society.
The poem entitled
THE NEXT LIFE 
can be heard for the first time on the Island at Farringford on Wednesday 1st July
7.30pm £15 includes a glass of wine.
