A scheme to reward school attendance with free ice skating appears to have been a success. The attendance level of middle and high school students in Ryde has risen by more than 28%.
In return for not missing a single day of school, pupils receive a family ice skating pass and a certificate marking their achievement. The project is also being supported by the Wightlink Raiders ice hockey team and players Joel Petkoff and forward Tom Long will present the pupils with their rewards this month.
