SCHOOL CHILDREN WALK UP THOUSANDS FOR CHARITY

School children have helped collect almost a 10th of the total amount raised during May's Walk the Wight.

Schools contributed an incredible £35,000 towards the record breaking £350,000 raised for the Earl Mountbatten Hospice, this year.  They took part by walking to school, at walking events held at schools, and walking with family and friends and more than 1000 pupils also walked the four miles from Freshwater Bay to Alum Bay on the day.  Information packs for 2009 have already been sent to schools.
