Sailors will line up for the Cervantes Trophy Race, between Cowes and Le Havre, on Saturday.

Organised by the Royal Ocean Racing Club, in association with the Société des Régates du Havre and the Royal Yacht Squadron, the Cervantes Trophy Race is traditionally the first English Channel Race of the Royal Ocean Racing Club season.  This year, yachts from Britain, France and Belgium are among those taking part. Jean-Yves Chateau’s, Iromiguy, will defend the trophy.  There’s tough competition from a fleet including 2008 Rolex Commodores’ Cup competitor Fair Do’s VII and 2007 Assuage Trophy winner Foggy Dew. On Sunday, there’s the Trophée Guillaume Le Conquérant.  The race starts in Le Harve on Sunday 4 May and finishes in Cowes.
