The Cowes-Torquay-Cowes powerboat race powers out of Island waters, on Saturday.
In its 48th run, the race nearly didn’t happen at all. It was cancelled, when an earlier organisation failed to attract entries. Instead, the man behind the 2008 Round Britain Race took over the event. The fleet leaves the Royal Yacht Squadron start line at 9.45am, tomorrow. They’ll race 180 gruelling nautical miles.
