The launch of this year’s Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal will take place later.
After a short parade from St James Street to St Thomas Square in Ryde, posies will be presented to The High Sherriff, Chairman of the Isle of Wight Council, and representatives of Ryde Town Council. Each of Ryde’s schools will present a posy before the Last Post is sounded. Meanwhile, the charity’s appealing for people to volunteer as poppy sellers. For more information visit
