POLICE INVESTIGATE BURGLARY AT SAINSBURY'S STOR IN NEWPORT

Police are investigating a report of a burglary at the Sainsbury’s petrol station and shop in Hunnycross Way, Newport, Isle of Wight.

It’s alleged a theft occurred after entry was forced to the premises sometime during the early hours of Monday, September 7, 2009.

The station and shop were closed at this time, and there were no staff working on site.

Detective Sergeant Will Burns of Isle of Wight CID said: “The exact amount and value of items taken from the store has yet to be confirmed. The petrol station and shop was sealed off by officers to allow for a forensic examination. We are appealing for information and would like to hear from anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the Hunnycross Way area of Newport late on Sunday night (September 6) or during the early hours of Monday morning (September 7).”
