Cllr Churchman failed to win in Ashey.
The votes are in, after Thursday’s parish council elections when residents turned out in their thousands, in parts of Ryde and Newport.
Among the surprises were in Ashey Ward, where Richard Fraser-Tait and Malcolm Ross beat IW Councillor for Ashey Vanessa Churchman to the two seats. In Newport South, former Isle of Wight Council Leader Shirley Smart made her return to politics, alongside Julie Marie Jones-Evans.
Elsewhere, in Carisbrooke East Ward the seats were won by Helen Downer and David Rex Whittaker. In Carisbrooke West Ward Andrew John Flambard and Barbara Ellen Foster were elected. Mary Megan Craven and Clive Ronald Page will represent Fairlee Ward. David Charles Ball and Melanie Swan were elected in Mount Joy Ward.
In Newport North Ward, Jacqueline Hawkins and Peter Andrew Humber were elected. In Parkhurst Ward, Hugh Thomson Reid and Stephanie Wilmott vere voted in. For Ryde Parish Council, in Binstead Ward, Alastair John Wakeley and Ivor George Warlow were elected. In Ryde North West Ward Adrian William Axford and David John Woodward won the vote. Finally, in St. Johns West Gary Morgan James Axford and Adrian Charles Robert Victor Whittaker will represent their ward.
