An Awards for All lottery grant is set to help the West Wight Sports Centre refurbish its gardens. £10,000 will be spent repainting pebbles, which were placed outside the Freshwater building in 2003 by children from four local schools, as well as on planting and fencing.
Managers say they want to involve as many people from the local community as they can. This month, new fencing will be constructed. The pebbles will be painted during March and April. The main activity will take place on 30 April, when much of the planting will be completed, although that work’s due to start there on 24 April.
