The Isle of Wight Beacon – the Island's daily news sport and weather website

NEW WEBSITE TO EXPLAIN SOCIAL CARE CHANGES

A new section of iwight.com has been created by the Isle of Wight Council to give general information about how and why social care is changing and what this will mean for people.

It provides the general public with an overview of the transformation agenda and the changes taking place on the Island. It is an information resource for users, carers, staff, health colleagues and providers, as well as giving access to useful documents and toolkits.

The site includes information about what transforming social care is, why it's changing and how; information on self directed support, support plans and personal budgets. In addition, it also contains details of news and forthcoming events which people can get involved in.

A useful jargon buster explains a lot of the terminology commonly referred to within social care and a links page provides contact
details for many organisations involved in personal budgets and self-directed support.

Cllr Dawn Cousins, Isle of Wight Council cabinet member for children, social care, health and housing said: "We hope this new section of our website will provide a valuable resource for people accessing care services on the Island. We have designed the site to be easily accessible to as many people as possible, ensuring subjects are clearly explained."

It can be accessed by clicking on 'Services for Adults' on iwight.com's home page and then selecting 'Your Care' or by following the link: www.iwight.com/living_here/health-and-wellbeing/Your_Care/
