The Isle of Wight Council is expected to ratify the appointment of a new Chief Executive, later.
He is Steve Beynon, who is 55 years old and formally the Island’s Director of Children’s Services. The former teacher is a key player in the delivery of the new two tier education system here. The Full Council will meet tonight to formalise the appointment. Council Leader Cllr David Pugh says, “Steve has demonstrated his considerable ability with the work he has carried out on education reforms but also in many other areas of local authority functions to which he has contributed…We are delighted that Steve will continue to oversee the next phases of the proposed education reforms from the post of chief executive ensuring that any changes are delivered in a coordinated manner across the council." The council will seek to appoint an interim director of children's services.
