The formal consultation period over the future of Island education begins today.
It will continue until 26 September. Tomorrow, the first of a new series of public meetings will take place in Cowes. Cowes High School will be the first in the round of discussions, with the focus also on Solent and Somerton Middle schools which are due to close when the system becomes two-tier. The meeting starts at 6:30pm and further meetings will be held later this week. Log on to the IW Beacon Online for details. Meanwhile, if you would like to add your thoughts to the consultation process, write to Alex Moffat, School Reorganisation Project Manager, Isle of Wight Council, County Hall, Newport, PO30 1UD or email
