Osborne House is home to many native squirrels.
They don’t like the rain and they’re happiest near the Swiss Cottage. The results of the red squirrel survey, carried out by visitors to Osborne House in East Cowes, have been revealed.
English Heritage says more than 350 people took part. More than half their sightings were in the afternoon and most were in the sunshine. Most of the squirrels were spotted on their own, in quieter areas of the former Royal residence like the Swiss Cottage. Many were also seen on the main drive - right in front the house. Until Sunday, visitors who photograph a red squirrel can claim a free biscuit - show your photograph and your admission ticket to a member of English Heritage staff. The best photos will also be posted on the English Heritage.
