A Newport garage was on hand this month to offer its mechanical expertise to local drivers in return for donations to the life-saving charity, the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
Dozens of drivers turned up at the Nationwide Autocentre on the Riverway Industrial Estate to receive advice on basic motor maintenance techniques essential for keeping a car roadworthy and running efficiently. Advice included tips on how to change a wheel, check and top-up essential fluids, and spot the problems that might lead to an MOT failure. This was one of three open days taking place in both Hampshire and the Isle of Wight with events taking place in Gosport and Southampton earlier this month - all raising crucial funds for the charity. Dave Myhill, Regional Manager at Nationwide Autocentre comments: “The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance provides an essential service to the local region, literally saving lives every day. We all hope that we never need to call upon its services, but remain eternally grateful that it exists if that day ever arrives.”
