Outstanding achievement will be celebrated at this year's Lord-Lieutenant's Award Ceremony, at the Riverside Centre in Newport, on Wednesday.
Nine Islanders and organisations will be honoured for their good work in the community. The Queens Award for Voluntary Service, introduced by the Queen in 2002 to mark her Golden Jubilee, will be the highlight of the event. It is equivalent in status to the MBE. During the ceremony, two new Lord-Lieutenant cadets will be inaugurated. Kathryn Teague and Cadet Sgt Thomas Harry will assist the Lord-Lieutenant in his duties.
