ISLAND PICTURE OF 2009
'All island picture of the year 2009-10' was held at Binstead community centre and hosted by Focus Ryde imaging group 11th November 2009. Attended by six island photography clubs and more than 60 photographers, this was the chance to pit their skills against each other as individuals by submitting two images each, one colour and one monochrome.
Gavin Chadwick first won the colour section before going head to head with the monochrome winner Peter Lake, but judge John Riley decided Gavin's picture should take the honors of overall winner with his image of Quarr Abbey Refectory.
Gavin only took up photography just 11 months ago and has been a member of 'Wight Balance Photography Plus' for just 8 months. He will be donating a limited edition run of his winning image to Quarr Abbey to aid their restoration appeal in return for their hospitality.
