The Island has spoken in favour of Option Three, with the publication of the results of a public consultation over plans to shake up education.

58% of more than 3000 questionnaires picked the option that would see the creation of a two tier system. There would be primary schools, for children aged 4 to 11 years. The schools would have minimum of one class per year.  There would also be secondary schools for 11 to 16 years olds, plus further education provision for 16 to 19 year olds.  Option 1’s three tier system was chosen by 22% of respondents and 11% favoured the two tier system (with bigger primary schools) proposed in Option 2. 9% said they did not like any of the options.  The IW Council will meet on 19 March to decide the future of schooling.
